The President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, met with the US Deputy Secretary of State and the US President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.
The interlocutors discussed the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.
The US President’s special envoy for the Western Balkans underlined the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU as soon as possible, as the peoples of the Balkans are linked to Europe in economic and cultural terms.
The President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, underlined as an encouraging fact that the enlargement of the EU to the Western Balkans is not excluded. It was jointly stated that European integration could be a factor in stabilizing the political situation in the region.
Escobar expressed his full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH and that there is no constitutional possibility for the secession of a smaller entity from BiH. He condemned the announcement of the displacements of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the entities of the RS, which led to an escalation.
The President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, declared that he would not fall prey to the provocations of Mr. Dodik and that he had strictly insisted only on the institutional response and the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia -Herzegovina.
The President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans said such a leadership approach to solving the problem is what the United States supports.
President Komšić briefed the US President’s special envoy on tomorrow’s police exercise in East Sarajevo, Doboj and Prijedor, involving the MIA and RS Gendarmerie, and said it was clear that it was another provocation with the aim of producing conflicts.
