UN Women, founded on the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.

The UN Women China office in Beijing supports and conducts work on (i) improving women’s economic empowerment; (ii) end violence against women; and (iii) innovative work to address gender issues in China. In addition to the above, UN Women actively participates and contributes to various United Nations inter-agency processes and collaborates with United Nations organizations in specific program areas.

Women entrepreneurs represent up to a third of all businesses operating in the world. Despite the growing momentum, the majority of those in developing and transition economies remain confined to very small enterprises often operating in the informal economy.

This program aims to empower women as leaders and beneficiaries of entrepreneurship and innovation, leading to inclusive economic growth for sustainable development. Specifically, it aims to empower women entrepreneurs in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in China and Indonesia with the means to establish, maintain and develop their businesses through training, support services and knowledge exchange opportunities. The program will also help create a more conducive environment for the development of women MSMEs by engaging leaders from the public and private sectors, through the building of alliances and high-level meetings.

Reporting to the National Program Analyst, the Program Assistant works with members of the program team and supports them in the design and implementation of effective programs in accordance with UN Women rules and regulations. The program associate contributes to the research, financial management and implementation of the program, including providing the necessary operational, administrative and program support. The program associate works closely with operations, programs and projects staff at the China office and UN Women headquarters, as needed, to resolve complex financial issues and exchange information.
